2011 Reunion
|
LMCOSA held another happy, friendly and successful reunion at "The Rockingham Arms, in The Barn, on May 14th 2011 with 111 old students and 3 honorary staff members present. The 1961 leavers managed to gather together 23 members for their 50th anniversary, a magnificent call-up, largely due to the efforts of Marian Venn. They gave us their rendering of "our favourite things" (college version!), which was well received, at the end of the AGM. Because of the rejection by Wentworth P.C.C. of our memorial window in wentworth Church, the money collected from members can be refunded, or left "in the pot" for any future project. It was mentioned to members that a TV programme called "Hidden Houses" would be shown in the near fiuture and would include a visit to "Wentworth Woodhouse". This would give an up-date on the development of the property, now owned by Clifford Newbold. Our college award this year was presented to two candidates, one to a young and dedicated swimmer and the other to a promising young golfer. Each was nominated by a member of LMCOSA. After the AGM, pre-lunch drinks were saved in The Barn and the Fitzwilliam Room, the gift of a deceased member's husband in her memory, followed by an excellent lunch. Our congratulations go once again to the chef and his helpers. An amusing talk was given in The Barn, after lunch, by Sheelah Foulds, recalling happy and humorous times at Lady Mabel College, which we enjoyed and appreciated.

We are trying to increase our reunion photograph gallery. Members of LMCOSA and Old Students of LMCPE are encouraged to send photos to the secretary for inclusion on our web-site. The links on this site should be of interest to present and potential members (i.e. Old Students of Lady Mabel College). |

We
still have no representatives of the leaving year of 1973. |

| The secretary has previously organised a 10 mile walk through the grounds of Wentworth Woodhouse for her local walking group, visiting the main follies, the crypt in the old church, the bear pit, and ending the day with a meal at "The Rockingham Arms". Click here to see the photographs of the day, and a map of the route. (Visiting the Mausoleum and Hoober Stand has to be arranged through the Estate Office and there is a small entrance fee.) |
